How can you deal with HIV?

If you have HIV it doesn’t mean that you can’t live a healthy life. And you can live a healthy life in a way you choose to live. But with proper care and treatment, you can expect to live as long as like someone who didn’t have HIV. Yes, it is incurable but doesn’t get upset because you can have a life full of joy and happiness. Steps to manage it:

1. After Diagnosis:

If you have diagnosed with HIV positive then the first step is to take care of yourself and keep safe your immune system by starting treatment as soon as possible. The treatment of it is Antiretroviral Treatment (ART) it just keeps the virus under control but not a cure for this deficiency.

Like a lot of medications have side effects this one has also experienced in the first month of use by you. If they affect the quality of your life then you should switch to other medicines by asking your doctor. If you skip any dose of medicines then it will stop protecting your immune system.

2. Stop illness and infection:

HIV makes your immune system less effective you get exposed to every virus, germ and bacteria. So to stop illness and infection then you should frequently wash your hands also stay away from every sick person for your better health. And stay on all of your vaccines to reduce risk of any kind of illness.

3. Manage your stress:

Your emotional health and to keep your mental level wellbeing. Depression is among every person who has HIV. If a person has this deficiency he or she is taking stress, pain and depression then these worsen physical pain caused by HIV. You have to keep under control these things to improve better health of you.   

4. Exercise on a daily basis:

Mental and physical exercise can keep your mind and body strong. In the physical exercise you should do swimming, walking, running, biking or other activity related physically it will keep you fit also lower your depression and stress also helps your immune system. Mental exercise like playing crosswords, brain challenging games, solving the puzzle, etc can improve your cognitive health.

5. Do not abuse drugs or alcohol:

By drinking too much alcohol or by taking athletic drugs reduces the strength of your immune system so it means your treatment for HIV will not keep you healthy as it can. You feel dizziness because of drugs and alcohol has combined with your medicines which makes you potentially vulnerable. So avoid the consumption of alcohol and abuse of drugs before it’s too late.

6. Healthy nutritional diet:

HIV causes loss of your weight by preventing your body by absorbing food. So you have to eat a healthy diet as follow:

Protein:

  • Eat yogurt by adding fruit in it.
  • Add beans, legumes, seeds and nuts.
  • Put chopped or diced meat in salads and soups.
  • Add slices of vegetable or fruit on toast.

Carbohydrates:

  • Cold cereals and oatmeal.
  • Rice, pasta, potatoes.
  • Bread, crackers, muffins.

Fat:

  • Avocadoes and olives.
  • Butter, gravy, peanut butter.
